Global PKI Interoperability: Korean Endeavour

چکیده
Digital Signature Act has been put into force since July 1999 to prepare a Infrastructure of secure and reliable electronic transaction in Korea. Korea Information Security Agency is the Root Certification Authority, which has four Licensed Certification Authorities subordinately, as of August 2001, approximately 900,000 certificates has been issued to be used in the area of internet banking, electronic Procurement, Secure E-mail, and etc. Use of digital signature in Korea henceforward is expected to be increased rapidly based on its trend. Moreover, for activation of global electronic commerce, use of digital signature within domestic or intra-domain should be expanded to international or inter-domain. Korea has promoting international PKI interoperability between different domains following this timely trend of requirement since early 2000. Particularly, Korea is promoting PKI interoperability experiment among Korea, Japan, and Singapore. This paper explains systematic promotion structure and current status of these in Korea.

PKI Interoperability: Still an Issue? A Solution in the X.509 Realm
There exist many obstacles that slow the global adoption of public key infrastructure (PKI) technology. The PKI interoperability problem, being poorly understood, is one of the most confusing. In this paper, we clarify the PKI interoperability issue by exploring both the juridical and technical domains. We demonstrate the origin of the PKI interoperability problem by determining its root causes...
متن کاملAre Current B2b Security Standards Antithetical To Global Interoperability?
This paper argues that powerful impetus exists for the realisation of a global multilateral electronic market infrastructure, as envisaged by the ebXML endeavour. Crucial in this regard is the problem of interoperability: making it possible for disparate systems to interact fluently. An obvious panacea would be to use a pre-specified set of protocols comprised of selected globally-accessible op...
متن کاملSecurity middleware for enhancing interoperability of Public Key Infrastructure
This paper describes a security middleware for enhancing the interoperability of public key infrastructure (PKI). Security is a key concern in e-commerce and is especially critical in cross-enterprise transactions. Public key cryptography is widely accepted as an important mechanism for addressing the security needs of e-commerce transactions because of its ability to implement nonrepudiation. ...

متن کاملPublic Key Infrastructure Security and Interoperability Testing and Evaluation
Public Key Infrastructures (PKIs) are currently being deployed in increasing sizes, numbers, fast changing technologies, and varying environments but our operational experience to date has been limited to a relatively small scale and small number of environments. Consequently, some open technical and environmental interoperability problems about the ways in which PKIs will be organized and oper...
